I have always loved making curries, from Swahili to Indian styles and everything in between. When I lived in London, it was so easy to buy ready-made curry pastes. I always preferred, however, to make mine from scratch, whatever the cuisine.
Glenfiddich Distillery, established in 1876, is still run by the descendants of the founder, William Grant, whose company became one of the pioneers of promoting the making of single malt whisky. Today Glenfiddich is one of Scotland’s most acclaimed single malt whisky distillers and account for about 30% of all single malt sales worldwide. (more…)
Nostradamus, best known for his prophecies, published a cookbook in 1555 while the oldest surviving cookbook in English is believed to be ‘The Forme of Cury’, circa 1390. Lilian, Tanya and Martin had the ingenious idea of celebrating their birthdays that fell between 19th and 22nd of February with a tea party at Black Tomato. This chilled, outdoor restaurant located in the courtyard of Oysterbay Shopping Centre, did not host a traditional afternoon session with pots of tea and delicate sandwiches. (more…)
It was real delight to meet winemaker Jaco Poitgeiter from Douglas Green Bellingham (DGB) group, one of the big players of the South African wine industry. DGB operates three winemaking facilities: at Boschendal, Franschhoek Cellars (for the Bellingham label) and in Wellington where they blend then bottle négociant wines (bought from various cooperative cellars) for Douglas Green, Tall Horse, The Beach House, Culemborg and Saints labels. My invite for the private wine tasting came from Meenal Kansara, marketing manager at Mohans Oysterbay Drinks Ltd, who import and distribute DGB wines in Tanzania.
