Congratulations to the Sweet Rebel Home Bakes team who welcomed customers, suppliers, friends and family members to their café to celebrate the official launch of their home baking haven at Slipway in Masaki. (*this business has relocated)

Co-owner Leanne Martin-Pollock is the culinary force behind the popular range of sweet and savoury goods sold from the café as well as being prepared as takeaway trays that can be pre-ordered and simply picked up. Leanne also offers a stylish catering service for any occasion.

The gathering in June was the perfect opportunity to showcase the company’s creations that all have the enterprise’s special ‘home baked’ touch which has made them a firm favourite with their private and corporate customers alike.

On the menu that evening was a selection of delicious white and brown crostini with basil a cashew pesto; tapenade with tangy dried tomatoes; tzatziki with shaved roast beef; and crudités and tzatziki. They also served a variety of tasty quiche, including: bacon, onion and cheese; beef bacon onion and cheese; zucchini, feta and coriander; and finally butternut squash and toasted cumin.

The company proudly asserts that “Sweet Rebel Home Bakes is all about celebrating Tanzanian ingredients in freshly home baked sweet and savoury items.” The talented team has accomplished this by working hard to source organic ingredients from Tanzania and to then transform them into freshly-baked produce on a daily basis. The result is an impressive selection of artisanal breads, cakes, tarts, cookies and more. Canadian-born Leanne, who has lived in Tanzania for some 16 years, is happy to discuss any offsite catering requirements for private or corporate occasions.
