Food Travel Innovation Summit to feature in London Travel Week

Food in tourism will be taking centre stage in the UK’s capital this weekend as delegates from around the world attend the 2nd Annual #FoodTreX London Food Travel Innovation Summit on November 3 ahead of the World Travel Market.

FoodTreX London, the world’s premier food travel trade event, is a unique conference that is designed to connect destinations, entrepreneurs and key stakeholders around the world to focus on strategies for culinary tourism development and promotion. The action-packed day features more than a dozen thought leaders sharing case studies, ideas, successes and challenges with professionals in a wide variety of industries, including food, beverage, tourism and hospitality. Wojtek Osinski from Taste Poland is one of those who are enthusiastic about the vibrant gathering: “It’s like the TedX of food tourism. Truly inspirational!” Speakers this year include Udi Goldschmidt of the Culinary Institute of Jerusalem (Israel), Chef Aaron Rutigliano of the Gola Restaurant (London) and Matthias Tesi Baur, President of the World Gourmet Society.

The major culinary tourism gathering is an official event of London Travel Week, organised by World Travel Market, one of the world’s largest travel trade conventions with 51,000 professionals in attendance. From Canada to Tobago, and New York to California, exhibitors at WTM London – the global event where ideas arrive – will be highlighting new hotels, fresh campaigns and state-of-the-art tourism developments across North America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Delegates at the event in ExCeL will be able to meet representatives of innovative attractions, boutique properties and exciting eco-tourism initiatives.

Felicia Munjaidi, UK representative for the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, told SCF blog that ten exhibitors were excited to be sharing the country’s stand and to participate in the 40th edition of the acclaimed travel trade gathering. “We are delighted to showcase the many attractions of amazing Zimbabwe!” said Ms Munjaidi who added that there will be plenty of opportunities for the travel trade to discover more about one of Africa’s most safest, welcoming and diverse destinations. In addition to representatives of renowned hotels, lodges, car hire companies and adventure operators, there will be official representatives from key state agencies. Ms Munjaidi confirmed the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority expect the delegation to participate in a wide range of activities being held over several days: “We are delighted to contribute to shaping the next 12 months of tourism through the really valuable discussions and networking opportunities scheduled during London Travel Week.”

According to the organisers, last year WTM London sparked a million meetings, resulting in around £3 billion in contracts. The WTM’s marketing also reaches further and deeper, through social networks, partnerships and media. If you have a game-changing travel product or service, London Travel Week is the place to tell the world!
